The Food Action Network of Northwestern Ontario (FAN-NWO), formerly the Thunder Bay + Area Food Strategy, is hiring a Regional Food Systems Coordinator to help strengthen community-led food systems across the region. This strategic, high-impact position is central to our organization’s growth and food sovereignty work.
This is a 30-hour/week, one-year contract with possibility of renewal, starting August 5, 2025. The position offers $30/hour plus benefits, and is based in the Thunder Bay area with some regional travel required.
The Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to support local producers, harvesters, processors, and food workers; co-develop a regional food strategy; coordinate events and campaigns; and revitalize the TBayInSeason platform. They’ll also contribute to long-term organizational planning, governance, and fundraising.
We’re especially encouraging applications from youth under 30 (this position may be eligible for youth-specific funding), and from those with lived experience and community-based knowledge of food systems.
Application deadline: Friday, July 18, 2025 at 5:00pm

Note: We recently incorporated as a nonprofit under the name Food Action Network of Northwestern Ontario (FAN-NWO). While we’re still using our original website for now, a fresh new site and full rebrand are on the way. In the meantime, we’re still the same Food Strategy folks you know and love, just working under a new and improved name that better reflects our regional scope and vision!
